Scholarships and gifts to Cornell insure a great education for those who follow in our footsteps.
The Class of 1974 Scholarship was established in 1999 as part of our 25th Reunion campaign by Joan and Bob Oelschlager. Through the University's Scholarship Challenge Campaign, Joan and Bob found it possible to fund the class scholarship through a combination of personal gifts, corporate matching gifts and anonymous matching funds provided by the Scholarship Challenge.
The Oelschlagers said "We are very excited to be able to establish this scholarship and name it in honor of our class. We never thought it would be possible to fund a scholarship, but because of the matching gifts program at Bob's company and the anonymous matching funds provided through the campaign, we have this wonderful opportunity. We believe in the diversity and opportunity for those who might not otherwise be able to attend Cornell."
Joan and Bob both received financial assistance as undergraduates and wanted, in turn, to help provide support to other students. The scholarship fund provides assistance to undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need and is administered by the Office of Financial Aid.
